Decatur Hospital Authority, doing business as Wise Health System in Decatur, Texas, will pay $431,183 to settle false claims allegations, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee said May 3. The government alleged the hospital ordered genetic tests from a lab, CQuentia, for inpatient and outpatient surgery patients that weren’t medically necessary and/or “were not performed in a timely manner for use by the treating physician,” according to the settlement. The case was set in motion by a whistleblower. The hospital didn’t admit liability in the settlement. Visit http://bit.ly/2YpzeUv.
