◆ HHS Inspector General Christi A. Grimm said Jan. 19 that the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) has excluded Elizabeth Holmes, founder and former CEO of Theranos Inc., for 90 years from federal health care programs in connection with her January 2022 conviction for wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud against Theranos investors.[1] Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay about $452 million in restitution. OIG has already excluded Ramesh Balwani, former Theranos president, for 90 years. Balwani was convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud against Theranos patients and investors.
